Training Course
6-13 December 2019 | Bala, Wales, United Kingdom
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED RECRUITMENT CALL FOR FULL DETAILS
UNA Exchange together with BeDiverse is delivering a first stage training course for youth workers (anyone who works with young people aged 13-30, in a paid, voluntary, full or part-time position) to equip them with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to break beyond the constructs of culture being intrinsically linked to nationality. This will be achieved through the successive implementation of the following project objectives:
-develop understanding of a multitude of different cultural differences held within Europe, from international–local–small groups–individual.
-learn to recognise that nothing defines us specifically. We are made up of so many aspects of different identities. We have more in common than we think.
-break down stereotypes related to nations, aesthetics, and religion by exploring our own identifying aspects and those within the areas we live and work.
-develop a deeper sense of European citizenship by moving away from the focus of nation states defining culture to recognising that we are one Europe, even one world.
-consider creating a new type of ‘intercultural evening’ to be undertaken during E+events.
We're looking for 7 participants: 1 living in the UK, 3 living in Sweden, 1 living in Estonia, 1 living in Malta. You must be living in the country and travel from and back to that country, but you do not have to be 'from' that country.

£30 GBP
Erasmus+ is a co-funded project, and so to ensure all the quality conditions for an impactful training are met we ask that each participant contributes £30. The participation fee can be discussed case by case if participants experience economic barriers. The participation fee is an additional amount we expect you to pay by PayPal before arriving to the course. It is not taken from your travel money if you spend less than your budget.
This project is funded by the Erasmus + Programme (KA1) of European Union. According to its financial rules some costs are fully covered some not. Please see below for details:
- Accommodation, food, refreshments, course materials – 100% covered
UK €137pp
Sweden €232pp
Malta €317pp
Estonia €232pp
- Travel costs* will be reimbursed** fully up to the stated amount in EUR€***. This includes internal travel. Travel must be from the country of residency, no exceptions.
*Please note we will ask participants to fly to Manchester Airport where they will be collected by mini bus at set times and taken to the venue, and back again on the 13th. The cost of this is €43 per person, so the travel budgets have been reduced to reflect this.
**Participants can travel to the UK up to 2 days before and after the start and end of the course. However, reimbursements can only be made to a single ‘journey’ to the venue, without a night stay anywhere.
***For those who will be paying their travel in another currency to EUR€, the conversion rate will be based on the Erasmus+ site depending on the rate at the month the funding was paid into UNA Exchange’s account.
