MELT - MEdia Literacy Training

Training Course

4-11 September 2018 | Szeged, Hungary

The main objective of the project is to enable the participating youth workers to teach young people they work with to be more conscious media consumers and to analyse critically the information they receive.
For this training particpants from Czech Republic, Finland, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden will join but we only need additonal participants from following countries: Czech Republic (2) and Poland (2) to apply for this offer. Young people all around Europe spend a lot of time on media consumption every day, however, generally they are not prepared for conscious media consumption, since no one has taught them how to handle media smog, how to select valuable content and how to decode messages. The conveying of such knowledge generally does not happen in public education, thus, the task of preparing youth is put on youth workers. Unfortunately, most of the times, the youth workers themselves lack information and adequate training material for the teaching – both formally or in a non-formal manner – of media literacy. The main objective of the project is to enable the participating youth workers to teach the young people they work with to be more conscious media consumers and to analyse critically the information they receive. With the utilization of the methods and learning process, our main goal is to promote media literacy and to teach methods of teaching media literacy through non-formal methods. During the training, participants will analyse and process the theme of the project through presentations, group work, joint activities and individual activities, in a way that every participant will take part actively in every activity.
