Media literacy, fake news, videos: keywords of a training course for youth workers from 9 countries on increasing their media literacy competencies and their capacities to address the topic of media literacy at their work with young people.

The training course ‘Media Sapiens: Training Course on Media Literacy for Youth Workers’ aims to meet the following objectives:
-to increase participants` knowledge on media literacy (key terms, concepts) with a special focus on the following topics: to analyze and evaluate media messages and differentiate objective information from disinformation and misinformation (fake x real news), construction of media messages, the impact of media messages on public opinion and how media influences creating ‘opinion bubbles’; -to develop participants` skills on building creative campaigns by using media messages with special focus on video making;
-to develop participants` competencies to implicate newly gained experiences into their work with young people;
-to provide the participants with needed input to become ‘digital citizens’ - actively using digital media to engage in relevant social issues; -to create a plan for media literacy activities with the main aim to transfer the lessons learned from the international to local level:
-to increase knowledge on the Erasmus + Programme and to support the establishment of new local, national, and international initiatives addressing media literacy.

The training course will be based on nonformal education. During the training days, the participants will take part in sessions supporting their active participation and involvement such as interactive presentations, discussions, simulations, and especially practical work in mix-intercultural teams. An essential part of the training course will be also activities supporting the learning process of the participants, giving them the possibility to reflect on the development of the competencies described in YouthPass and meeting their learning goals.

DAY 2: Getting to Know Media World, We as Media Users
DAY 3: Exploring Media Literacy Practices
DAY 4: Increasing Media Literacy of Young People: How? Why?
DAY 5: Practical Work: Video as a Tool.
DAY 6: Meeting Locals + Erasmus +
DAY 7: Working for the Future, Closing Up

Note: The selection of the participants is primarily done by participating organizations. If you are interested to take part and you are coming from Latvia, France, Croatia, Lithuania, Greece, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Poland you can fill in the form and we will communicate with them regarding your applications.

Organisation and costs for accommodation and food covered according to the rules of the Erasmus + Programme. 

Travel reimbursement

Travel costs for participants will be reimbursed until following amounts:
Latvia, Lithuania, France, North Macedonia,
Bulgaria, Greece 275 €
Poland, Croatia 180 €
Czech Republic 20 €
