International Training Course: Intersectionality, evaluation and youth work

Training Course

22 February - 1 March 2025 | Brussels, Belgium - FR

This training course is for participants who are interested in learning about evaluation for youth work, and who want to introduce an intersectional approach in their evaluation practices.

TRAINING COURSE

This international training course is organised as part of the long-term project Quality Assurance for All - applying intersectional and human rights-based approaches to the evaluation practices of youth work.

The objectives of the international training are:

  • Equip participants with a shared understanding of a. hands-on knowledge of evaluation techniques tailored to youth work. b. intersectionality principles and how to apply them to evaluation
  • Present and collect feedback on the Quality Assurance model developed as part of the project.
  • Develop participants’ skills to apply the created Quality Assurance model to non-formal education, focusing on intersectionality, human rights, and EU values.

The international training is open for up to 35 participants who correspond to one of the following profiles:

  • Youth leaders and members of youth organisations
  • Trainers and facilitators from youth organisations
  • Human Rights Educators coming from non-formal education
  • Youth workers and NGO activists
  • Young people interested in learning about quality assurance and evaluation for HRE

All participants should be interested in learning about quality assurance and evaluation for non-formal and human rights education and planning to be active in this area.

After the international training, participants will be expected to pilot the Quality Assurance model (fully or partially) in their own organisations or activities, with support from partner organisations.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

HREYN is the lead partner of the Erasmus+ KA2 project Quality Assurance for All - Ensuring quality of youth work through intersectionality and human rights (2023-2025). This project focuses on enhancing the quality of youth work by integrating an intersectional perspective and upholding common EU values such as human dignity, inclusion, solidarity, and equality in non-formal education and youth work.

PROJECT TIMELINE

October 2023

The Quality Assurance for All project began with a thorough exploration of how quality is assured in youth work across Europe. This initial research focused on non-formal learning activities that address intersectionality, human rights, and common EU values.

July 2024

In July 2024, the project entered its second phase: designing a quality assurance model based on data collected from youth workers, trainers, and young people.

February 2025

The international training planned in February 2025 is also a part of this phase, where participants will develop the skills needed to use and refine the model in real-world contexts.

After the training, participants will test the model in their own work and provide feedback to enhance its effectiveness.

By the end of this project, we aim to have a quality assurance model that has been developed, reviewed, and improved by youth workers, trainers, and youth, that reflects the diverse contexts, lived experiences, and identities of people involved in youth work.
