IMPROnauts

Training Course

19-28 September 2023 | France

Embark on a transformative voyage of self-discovery and growth with IMPROnauts: Navigating Personal Development through Improvisation and Embodiment

IMPROnauts is an Erasmus+ training course, consisting of 8 days of program and 2 travel days. The course is designed to enhance the improvisation skills of youth workers who live and work in the dynamic environment of modern Europe (and the world). This environment is characterized by constant changes and developments, requiring efficient and creative responses to the rapidly evolving needs of young people. The aim is to promote greater awareness, listening, flexibility, adaptability and acceptance among youth workers, enabling them to function more effectively.

Participants of this training course will have the opportunity to fully explore and experience improvisation in the context of youth work. This will enable them to develop their skills and competencies, which can be individually transformed and applied to various aspects of their personal and professional lives. Improvisation offers and cultivates a range of qualities and elements that can be utilized on a daily basis.

Improvisation plays a pivotal role in building self-confidence and enhancing skills and abilities. Through experiential and reflective exercises, participants in this training will engage in immersive, "in the moment" practices within a nurturing environment. Moreover, improvisation fosters a proactive approach towards the unfamiliar, enabling individuals to embrace it rather than merely adapt to it. This approach proves especially relevant in the intricate realm of human relations where youth workers operate, as it preserves the integrity of process-based practices."

During this training course we will be:

  • Acquiring fresh insights and inspiration to invigorate motivation and foster a renewed commitment to action.
  • Revitalizing curiosity and embracing a playful mindset when approaching your work.
  • Enhancing your skills as a trainer to become more effective, adaptable, and responsive to challenges and demands within your professional sphere.
  • Broadening your perspectives and cultivating a greater understanding of diverse viewpoints, enabling you to identify new opportunities, create innovative patterns, and navigate potential impasses when working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Accessing specialized tools from non-formal artistic disciplines such as theatre, singing, dance, and creative expression, which may not be readily available to all youth workers.

By nurturing self-awareness, fostering acceptance, and cultivating a sense of initiative, you can elevate the quality of your actions. Our aim is to provide support in discovering pathways to more efficient and creative approaches through improvisation. This entails developing your ability to be fully present, listen attentively, accept and respond, and equipping you with a repertoire of improvisation-based tools that can be integrated into your practice.
