Conference – Symposium - Forum
10 October 2023 | Online, Greece
The EU Parliament Simulation, an online event, dives deep into European environmental policies, enlightening teenagers and young individuals on the values of democracy, the role of the Parliament, and their participation in democratic practices at various societal levels.
This engaging simulation is a component of the Activate and Participate project (AP8), a CERV initiative, specifically targeting young citizens and youth workers. Its purpose is manifold: to bestow participants with a foundational understanding of democratic mechanisms, to offer a stage for self-expression and creativity, and to present opportunities for reflection, discourse, and direct participation.
Throughout the 2-hour session, starting at 11.00 CET, participants will grasp the essence of how the Parliament functions and the role it plays in the bigger picture. Simultaneously, they'll gain insights into contemporary challenges faced by their school, community, and broader society.
Following the Simulation, participants will not only be equipped with knowledge but will also have experienced the practical aspects of democratic processes, understanding questions like:
How do European environmental policies impact local community?
What role active citizen in shaping EU policies?
How does the EU Parliament address issues that directly affect citizens everyday life?
How can to ensure voice is heard on matters that individuals or their communities?
Moreover, educators and teachers are encouraged to enroll their classes or entire schools to benefit from this immersive experience.
The Simulation is a part of the AP8 project, an initiative funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), CERV-2022-CITIZENS-CIV, Citizens’ Engagement and Participation strand. The project partnership comprises three European organizations: CESIE (Italy, coordinator), ERASMUS STUDENT NETWORK (ESN) Dubrovnik (Croatia), and ACTIVE CITIZENS PARTNERSHIP (Greece).
The collective goal of these organizations is to encourage active citizenship participation, enhance democratic engagement, empower EU citizens, and raise awareness among young people about the European Parliament and EU structure.
We invite interested participants to join this vital conversation and contribute to the discourse on strengthening democratic participation. Further details about the exact date and time of the forum will be provided soon.
