DREAM - Develop gendeR-basEd Approaches in Mobility projects

Training Course

7-12 April 2025 | Lyon, France

Ready to adopt a gender-based approach in your youth mobility projects? This training is for youth workers, trainers, mentors, coordinators, youth leaders in Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps projects, focusing on gender equality and inclusion.

This training course supports people active in Erasmus+ and ESC programs to develop a gender-based approach in the implementation of their projects.

In this training, gender-based approach means acknowledging the inequalities and different experiences individuals face based on gender. These inequalities are not limited to relationships between men and women but also include gender minorities and LGBTQIA+ communities, while being interconnected with other forms of inequalities. This approach does not imply a “theoretical study” but rather a willingness to look at one's work from a more sensitive perspective. It values shared experiences to better understand the impact of Gender in our projects..

Objectives

  • Explore and share diverse understandings of the gender-based approach, including definitions, real-life case studies, and challenges.
  • Support participants in identifying risks related to gender inequalities in their own projects and evaluate their current practices.
  • Develop practical steps to improve gender equality in mobility projects, including fostering inclusion and preventing potential risks.
  • Experience working within safer, supportive, and diverse international groups on gender topics, and learn to apply this within mobility projects.
  • Explore practical exercises that strengthen one’s ability to support participants on gender-related issues in the field of mobility projects.
  • Reflect on how individual perspectives, beliefs and behaviors can influence our professional role in managing mobility projects.

Competences You Will Develop

Through this training, you will be able to develop competences to:

  • understand how, based on gender, young people may experience mobility projects differently, and recognise potential inequalities;
  • design and lead educational activities enhancing gender sensitivity and inclusivity;
  • understand cultural differences in their first language and to redefine gender-sensitive communication in English language;
  • be more aware of risks and develop competences to prevent and tackle sexual and gender-based violences in mobility projects.

Educational Approach

This course’s methodology is built on the principles of non-formal learning. Our educational approach acknowledges diverse experience levels among participants, allowing each to guide their own learning while contributing to a shared pool of knowledge, self-reflection, peer learning, and open discussion are core components, ensuring a space where participants feel supported to discuss and question gender-related topics.

In this event, we follow the principles of a safer space. We strive to ensure that everyone is met as their own self and that no one has to fear discrimination or harassment.

Who can participate?

This training is for you if :

  • you have previously been involved in  Erasmus+ Youth and/or European Solidarity Corps projects in the role of supporting participants and/or project implementation;
  • you have a beginner level of experience in implementing gender-sensitive approaches in projects and/or you are eager to develop and implement gender-based approaches in your work;
  • you are motivated to reflect on your perspectives on gender and integrate your learnings into practices;
