Discover the Caucasus – Study Visit to Azerbaijan

Study Visit

8-15 July 2023 | Azerbaijan

The 6-days study visit will explore the youth sector in Azerbaijan through a wide range of meetings with private and public youth stakeholders while exchanging practices and approaches on youth participation with peers from more than 10 countries.

This Study Visit to Azerbaijan is part of the larger program, “Discover the Caucasus - 10 Years After”. Between 2011-2013, European Intercultural Forum and its local partners in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia explored the youth sector in the Caucasus, discovering a wide range of possibilities. 10 years later, we are inviting you to revisit the youth field in the South Caucasus zooming in on youth participation, active citizenship, and the state of volunteering of young people.

How the Caucasus connects with the EU, especially in the context of Erasmus+, is an essential element that we will explore together with the local youth organisations by looking at their practices for community development, youth empowerment and participation, local and international volunteering.

The study visit to Azerbaijan is the third and last in the frame of the “Discover the Caucasus” series.

The programme is composed of two educational activities:

- A preparatory 4-week online course in June 2023 with a weekly workload of no more than 1,5 hours

- A 6-days study visit  across Azerbaijan (08-15 July 2023) focussing on Baku and Ganja

What can you gain from this study visit?

The study visit is specifically designed to provide an insight into the youth sector in Azerbaijan by exploring the needs of youth and local organisations working in the youth field, the existing landscape of non-governmental youth stakeholders, and the youth support structure framed by public youth stakeholders.

The study visit offers the following:

- A wide range of meetings with private and public youth stakeholders in Azerbaijan to learn about their context, practices and successes

- The opportunity for an exchange of practices, approaches and ideas on youth participation and youth-driven community development

- Building project-based international cooperation between organisations that are based within the EU and within the Eastern partnership region on youth participation, community development and international volunteering

- Establishing links between like-minded organisations that allow for a knowledge transfer from which youth work can benefit all across Europe on the local level
