Democracy Reloading Expert Seminar

10-14 February 2025 | Utrecht, Netherlands

Seminar will reflect on the achievements, the challenges and the opportunities of the Democracy Reloading Partnership on local, national and European levels and establish the DR Expert Group.

Member agencies of the Democracy Reloading Partnership are invited to delegate experts (2 by full members, 1 by observers) who are supporting the national and European implementation of the activities, and who can be recognised as Democracy Reloading experts / trainers for the period 2025-2027.

The Seminar will take 3 and half days with the following objectives:

  • To establish a professionalised community of DR experts - clear DR Partnership mandate of expectations towards the experts, and benefits provided by the Partnership
  • To exchange DR training and consultancy practices, 
  • To explore how experts and NA’s can collaborate on implementing national DR strategies and activities,
  • To further networking and strengthen cooperation among the experts,
  • To explore how the international community of DR experts can support national agencies.

Content of the Seminar

  • Presentation of the new DR platform, and ways of using the redesigned Toolkit
  • Sharing strategies and methods of the national implementation of Democracy Reloading objectives
  • Introducing other related resources for Democracy Reloading (EGL, DYPALL, Council of Europe, EU-CoE Partnership etc.)
  • To get an insight to the Dutch national implementation and local realities of municipal youth participation
  • Introduce the principles and mandate of the DR Expert Community (agreed by the Steering Committee) 
  • Exploration of further learning needs of DR experts / trainers

Expected profile of participants:

  • Experienced DR trainers and municipal practitioners who are supporting or can potentially support the planning and implementation of national and European DR activites,
  • Have expertise in youth participation in municipal decision-making and democracy,
  • Are devoted and ready to work with the national agency(s) on strategic planning and realising national activities,
  • Priority will be given to those who took part in the Trainers4democracy LTTC.

The program for participating experts /trainers will start on Monday (10th) evening at 16:00 with a festive opening at a special location, and will finish on Friday at 13.00 with also lunch provided (for the ones who want to join lunch).

For NA colleages / national SNAC coordinators their contribution to seminar program will start on Thursday (13th) 9:00, and will be concluded on Friday at 13.00 with lunch provided.  

Steering Committee members are invited to stay for the first yearly meeting starting on Friday after lunch and finishing on Saturday with lunch.

Costs

Participation fee

No participation is applied. 

NAs may be invoced for the staff they send for the last days of the event.

Accommodation and food

Participants will be accommodated in single rooms in a hotel in Utrecht. Meals will be provided from dinner on Monday until lunch on Friday.

Travel reimbursement

Travel costs will be reimbursed by the sending national agencies. Please consult your angency on procedures. 

Participants are expected to arrive on 10th February, Monday, preferably before 17.00 as the introductory session will take place before dinner. Participants can depart on 14th February, Friday after lunch.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
