18-23 August 2024 | Dublin, Ireland

We are inviting organisations who want to work with us and create new Youth Exchanges in Arts, Culture , Sports , Social issues , Peer Education etc ,for under 18 year olds..

This project will bring together  18 organisations from various European  Countries  with the aim of creating  Youth Exchanges for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age, two participants from each organisation using non formal methods of education. Our contact making seminar will give each organisation  space and time to present  their organisation  and experience  of the Erasmus + programme and to learn from one anothers experience.We will work together  on a range of  creative ideas and practical steps  in organising  youth exchanges  covering : logistics , programme , child protection , budget, youth pass, evaluation .

 Ballyfermot Youth Service (BYS)
Ballyfermot Youth Service is a limited company registered in Ireland as a charity (Charity No. 20150532) with a board of voluntary directors and is an accredited organisation  for Erasmus programmes.Established in 1985, BYS currently employs a total of six full-time and four  part-time staff. The staff team consists of a Youth Service Manager, four full-time and one part-time Youth Worker, an Outwards Bound Senior Instructor and Instructor, Activities Co-ordinator, two part-time Youth Information Officers.

BYS provides a range of services to the young people of Ballyfermot from  Outdoor Education  programmes, Drop in Information  centres , Music and Arts programmes, access to the Erasmus + programme and a comprehensive  Drugs Peer Education programme.

All our staff are qualified in youth work and deliver programmes in a most professional way. On this project Ger O Reilly and Gerry Mc Carthy have over 30 years experience in youth work and Erasmus projects. Both have professional qualifications in Youth work and Outdoor education. They use group work processes to empower the young people. We adhere to highest standards in child protection and welfare and all our staff have Garda vetting and training. Our staff are all up to date first aiders , trained by the Red Cross. Our staff work with the most challenging young people and are used to using creative ways to engage this target group. In terms of planning international projects , we have over 20 years experience of working with different partners and can take our responsibility for delivering workshops, ice breakers ,energisers for group development .We use group work methods in a non formal way with young people and we are guided by the principles of youth work as set out in the 2001 act.: “Its Voluntary on the young person , Its a relationship between young person and youth worker, Its developmental, Its a partnership, Its empowering Empowerment, Inclusiveness, Equality” (Youth Work Act 2001) Gerry McCarthy has extensive experience in European projects and has taking part in a wide variety of Youth in Action and Erasmus Projects, including Youth Exchanges, EVS and Training in Ireland and throughout Europe. Gerry has been involved for over 20 years. in the Erasmus+ programmes and has encouraged all the BYS staff to get involved also. Ger O Reilly is an Elite Kayaker and has vast experience in outdoor adventures, including Mountain Biking, BMX, Rock Climbing, Abseiling etc and was instrumental in getting the fabulous Skatepark developed in Ballyfermot. Ger has taken part in Erasmus projects and brings immense energy to the project. Ger has a Degree in outdoor education . Jody Byrne our Erasmus co ordinator .will also work on the project. and ensure gender balance .. Jody has over 20 years working on the Erasmus programme and has completed the Erasmus Maynooth course in European projects management. .

Travel reimbursement

Travel  costs are covered by Erasmus +  Distance bands  including Green travel
