BYE - Backpack Journalism for Youth E(co)innovation

Training Course

10-17 November 2014 | Hotel Posada del Valle, Collía, Arriondas, Asturias, Spain

Are you passionate about nature & ecology? Do you feel internet can play an important role in society? Are you confident with basic IT & social media? Why not turn these 3 Cultural trends into valuable skills for youth environmental projects?
A training course for youth workers, volunteers and unemployed young people, to explore Backpack Journalism (BPJ) competences and Eco-Innovation in rural areas, in connection with nature. We will be working on media sources and doing practical sustainable actions, trying to explore community work through a variety of different approaches. What is Backpack Journalism? You are doing backpack journalism when you pack your bag with a camera, a notebook, pen and paper, or basically, just your smartphone; and you simply start recording, designing and sharing your stories. The program of this TC offers participants the opportunity to reflect about: How to deliver a message, the relations between ecology, media & democracy, active citizenship and how things, regarded as systems, influence one another within a whole. Hands on activities in the farm & kitchen will create the setting for applied BPJ in real life community work. As a participant, you will be active at three levels: at an individual level, working in a team and as a whole group; and there will be three learning dimensions: learning by thinking critically, learning by empathy and learning by doing. “Head, Heart and Hands” approach. The place will play a great role during the course, based at an eco-hotel & organic farm in the rural countryside of Asturias, we can make the most of an 18 year sustainable family business to inspire the journalist - and story teller - within each one of us. Application online only, please find the form at the link: http://goo.gl/mnwHG7 Submit your applications before the 5th October! Check BYE training course's website at http://bpj.gaiaysofia.com/
