Butterfly Effect: Next Generation

Training Course

22-28 February 2024 | Statek Habří, Czech Republic

BENG is a 7-day long Erasmus+ project for youth workers that aims to offer new perspectives on conflict transformation, and approaches that connect embodiment to it.

THE PROJECT

It can sometimes happen that when we face a conflict our body seems to be against us: tension, rushes of anger, the voice disappearing or coming out too loud. Right at the moment when we need our cool we start shaking, sweating, stuttering.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to befriend our body and communicate with it, so that it could work for us as a support in similar situations?

Butterfly Effect: Next Generation is an Erasmus+ project that will offer you new perspectives on conflict transformation, & approaches that connect embodiment to it.

During the Training Course we will explore experiential methods for conflict transformation, and use the body as a tool to root, communicate, and anchor the learning. The implementation period will be a chance to put into practice what you learned, while receiving guidance about it.

THE METHODOLOGY

If a butterfly’s wings can create the strongest wind, also our movements and actions can create change and movement where things feel stuck or overwhelmed. Through BENG we will observe how we deal with conflicts, and find new ways to move ourselves in them, learning to use our actions and attitudes to create transformation, inclusion, and connection.

We will use mainly body-based approaches and methods: embodiment as a domain of change. Observing our bodies from inside and outside, and experiencing our reactions in movement, we will bridge the gap between rational and emotional mind, and find support towards conflict transformation.

WHAT YOU CAN GET OUT OF THE PROJECT

  • Acquire various embodied learning tools to use in youth work for conflict transformation and social inclusion of youngsters with fewer opportunities.
  • Improve your personal and professional life while using your body & powerful conflict transformation tools.
  • Identify feelings and needs of yourself and the others, and give space to both.
  • Leave behind old patterns and automatic responses, developing more options.
  • Listen to your own body and use own embodiment (body scanning, non-verbal & paraverbal communication) in an impactful and influential way.
  • Be familiar with different dimensions of active listening & non-verbal communication.
  • Acknowledge improvements and developments.
