Breaking Barriers, Building Bonds: International Youth Leader Qualification 2024

In this youth leader qualification, you will learn what it takes to lead an international activity from both a theoretical and a practical prespective. You will gain insights into the pedagogical basics, how to develop an educational program, and the specifics of the international youth work.

The program focuses on the following areas:

• Non-formal education: the importance of active participation, engagement, debates, and reflections
• Group dynamics, processes and phases: understanding and managing the different steps and challenges occuring during group activities or events and the meaning of safe/braver space.
• Leadership styles and methods: features, advantages, and disadvantages of the different existing approaches; gain skills to design and facilitate workshops.
• Language (in) equality: investigate how languages barriers affect (educational) opportunities and outcomes, develop methods to create inclusive educational environments, examine the role of language in shaping cultural and personal identities.

Important information:

• Dates: September 16th-22nd, 2024 (participants are required to stay for the whole duration). 

            Arrival date by the 16th September 2pm and departure date on Sunday 22nd September.

• Location: Naturefriends house Gran Pino, Cecina, Italy.
• Eligibility: Young adults aged 18-30 from the following EU countries Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, France, Greece, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Finland, Netherlands, Romania, Latvia, North Macedonia, and Turkey.                                                                        Genuine interest in leading youth programs, exchanges or events is an important requisite.
• Participation fee: 50€ for IYNF members; 75-100 € for non-members (in case you are interested to become a member, please contact us). The fee cannot be reimbursed in case of cancellation!
• Food, accommodation, and travel costs are covered (Travel costs are reimbursed according to the Erasmus+Green Travel scheme, up to 320 euros travelling by trains and buses. Flying must be approved in advance by IYNF).

Activities:
Participants will engage in a variety of non-formal education methods and fun activities, including: 

• workshops and interactive sessions of non-formal education, group leading and language barriers and inequalities
• practical outreach sessions with Italian school pupils
• participation in the Italian Naturefriends festival, featuring music, culture and various other sessions.
