Partnership-building Activity

15 June 2024 - 31 August 2026 | Germany

Hostelling International Slovenia and JANUN Hannover are inviting you to join a unique few-year-long international project about travelling & education.

We are seeking new volunteers, aged 18 to 28, from Slovenia and Germany, who would like to join the existing group of young people, collaborating with experts to develop and implement workshops on sustainable tourism and lifestyles, which typically take place in schools. This international project, launched by the German youth organisation JANUN Hannover e.V. and Hostelling International Slovenia, centres on youth mobility, tourism, and sustainability, aiming to achieve notable progress in sustainable tourism and education for sustainable development.

Building on the project's initial phase achievements, we have continued with the project, and were joined by the Spanish hostelling organisation REAJ and the Portuguese organisation Movijovem. Alongside overseeing the network of youth hostels, they foster youth mobility, intercultural understanding, international exchanges, and social inclusion, greatly amplifying the project's impact.

A new era of the "Travel Different for Future" project will begin in Germany with the highly anticipated fourth international youth seminar, from August 1st to 12th, 2024. Together with young people from Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, and Germany, we will stay in Hannover and on the island Föhr in the North Sea for 11 days, while reflecting on project achievements, planning new activities, becoming friends, having a good time at the beach and much more.

What we expect from volunteers:

  • Participation in monthly project meetings/workshops, many of which will occur online.
  • Running workshops, either alone or in a team with another volunteer. The workshops will last 90 minutes and volunteers will hold them in their own country/region.
  • Participation in the International Seminars involving teams from Slovenia, Germany, Spain, and Portugal.
  • Active involvement in the project, where volunteers can contribute their ideas.

Learn more about the project on the official website, discover the benefits of being part of it HERE, and find a description of the fourth international summer seminar in a PDF document. Applications are accepted through an online form, which must be completed by May 31st, 2024.
