Association of Non-formal Education in Lithuania (Youth NGO)

Association of Non-formal Education in Lithuania (LiNA) was established in 2001 after 4 years of informal cooperation of people working as youth workers or trainers. LiNA unites practitioners working in the field of non-formal education at local and national NGOs. The association works towards better recognition of non-formal learning and quality in youth work, implements adult education programmes for youth workers and contributes to the developments in the field of non-formal learning at local, national and international levels.

At national level LiNA is for years playing an expert role in advocating for the recognition of non-formal education within the youth work and education sectors. Association is represented at working groups formed by Department of Youth Affairs and Ministry of Science and Education in Lithuania. During the last 2 years LiNA contributed to the development of national youth workers’ qualification system and national accreditation system for the providers of non-formal education services.

At European level LiNA is an active cooperation partner committed for the quality of non-formal education in Europe. Together with partners we implemented several Europe wide initiatives focusing on learning-to-learn, recognition of non-formal education, promotion of Youth in Action mobility.

Last 3 years Association is actively in promoting and using Open Badges. Together several partners we developed the pilot technology and Open Badges systems to be used further in youth work in Europe.
