Across the Line II

Training Course

1-5 December 2014 | Berlin, Germany

A training course focusing on exploring the challenges and benefits of youth work that goes across different ethnic, religious or minority background boundaries. Activity wants to promote projects that happen between minority and majority young people.
Aim To empower underrepresented ethnic groups to start European youth projects and to encourage organisations to start cross-community work. Objectives - to bring together representatives from different communities (majority and minority organisations) -to explore challenges and opportunities in cross-community cooperation and in developing European projects - sharing information on national realities in the contexts of migration policies and good practices in cross-community youth work - share and learn tools for cross-community work and project building - initiate common project ideas in Erasmus+ Youth in Action The organisations representing majorities and minorities in their countries will start working through preliminary tasks. The participants bring along information about the immigration situation in their own countries and present it to others. Understanding different realities will help partnership building and guides participants towards interesting topics. There will be project visits in Berlin to organisations that work actively in bringing the mainstream German society towards the immigrant background people and vice versa. Project visits will give inspiration for common project ideas between organisations. The activity provides opportunities in representing one's own organisation and getting to know others. Partner finding for future youth exchange projects is one of the objectives of the training. The programme reserves time for presenting the opportunities in Erasmus+ Youth in Action and National Agency representatives answer questions about technicalities and give tips for good quality youth exchanges. A Youthpass certificate is provided for all participants and the participants are encouraged to reflect their learning on each day.
