Focus Mentoring - Improving Mentoring Support with the Mentor's Competence Framework

Mentoring under Construction, Online Intensive Workshop for organisations and members of National Agencies and SALTO Resource Centres

  03.12.2024, 13.00 - 17.00 CET, ZOOM

Are you eager to improve mentoring support within the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme? - Join us for the "Focus Mentoring", an three-hour online workshop that allows you to dive deep into the newly developed Mentor's Competence Framework.

This workshop is designed for organisations and members of National Agencies and SALTO Resource Centres.

What is the Mentor's Competence Framework?

The Mentor’s Competence Framework provides clear and effective guidance for mentoring practitioners in the ESC Programme. The framework is for mentors who would like to develop their mentoring competence and improve their mentoring practice, project coordinators who would like to set up and offer a quality mentoring programme within their organisation, facilitators and trainers who would like to design and carry out workshops and training courses on mentoring as well as National Agencies and SALTO Resource Centers that would like to support mentoring initiatives within the ESC Programme.

The Mentor's Competence Framework was developed in a collaborative process within the Mentoring under Construction Community, drawing on the experiences and expertise of mentoring practitioners across Europe. It’s grounded in the principles of inclusivity, supporting continuous improvement and development. Its practical application ensures that it meets the needs of mentors, their organisations and the local community. It reflects the commitment of the MUC Community to support mentors in their learning, development and growth and the support and guidance of their volunteers.

Focus Mentoring Online Workshop

Mentoring is one of the main support measures of the European Solidarity Corps Programme: it contributes both to the value of the volunteering project as well as the well-being of the volunteer; this also including the mental health of the participant.

Focus Mentoring is an Online Intensive Workshop for organisations and members of National Agencies and SALTO who would like to get to know the Mentor’s Competence Framework and with this tool to improve mentoring support within the ESC Programme.

1. Understanding the Mentor’s Competence Framework: Getting to know the framework and exploring the three main parts of the framework: mentoring focus areas (tasks), mentoring competences and guiding principles for mentoring

2. Clarifying mentoring tasks: Diving into the main focus areas of mentoring and their specific tasks

3. Brainstorming ideas on how this framework can be used to improve mentoring support

Important note: This workshop is designed for organisations and members of National Agencies and SALTO Resource Centres. If you are a mentor there is a call for a residential training course here: http://trainings.salto-youth.net/12725
