Description
" GEN Z and new generation of European volunteers " is a Transnational Learning and Consultation Activity under the European Solidarity Corps. Designed in the framework of the Strategic Partnership between National Agencies (SNAC) “Strengthening European Volunteering”, this activity aims to gather former ESC and non-ESC volunteers to explore the changing generations of volunteers, their motivation to join a volunteering project as well as to reflect on their needs and challenges on which the support system should be based on in order to enhance the Volunteering opportunities within the ESC. This activity would be the third edition of its kind.
For this activity, held from 26.-31. October. 2025 in Brussels, Belgium (dates incl. arrival and dep. days), Bureau International Jeunesse (BIJ), the Belgian French-speaking Erasmus+ Youth and Sport and European solidarity corps National Agency together with the SALTO European Solidarity Corps Resource Centre is looking for 2 experienced and 1 junior facilitators.
The facilitators will be involved in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of this activity which is a planned as 4 working days meeting.
Objectives of the activity
The activity aims to:
- Deepen the understanding towards the needs of young people when it comes to volunteering: how do they engage? Why? What are the important topics and challenges they can relate to (at local, European and Global level)? Who are their role models when it comes to social engagement?
- Bring different volunteers together to explore various formats of volunteering, identify the new trends in the European Volunteering landscape and the challenges faced during their projects.
- Discuss how to increase the impact during and after their volunteering experience.
- Explore the potential of the ESC in the future and work on concrete ideas
- Give an insight on EU youth policies and programmes to the participants.
- Empower young people, through a training component, to get in contact with local youth, community, organisations, authorities.
- Give young people the tools (and opportunity) to get to know and to contribute to the work of Organisations, NAs and SALTOs .
Profile of participants:
Number of participants : 25-30 participants
- Former young volunteers 18+ years old from ESC Programme and Partner countries with a diverse background (ESC, non-ESC volunteers (volunteers from other schemes to have a similar background), Europeers, young people with fewer opportunities)
- who had their volunteering experience at least 1 year ago (to see the impact of their volunteering experience)
- who are interested in becoming active as ambassadors, multipliers, members of EuroPeers network
- willing to share their view on the current shape of the programme and contribute to concrete changes for the future.
Dates and venue
Venue: The meeting will be held residential in Brussels, Belgium (exact venue to be confirmed)
Date: Residential event: 26-31. October. 2025 (Arrival day for participants 26.10 evening .departure day 31.10.2025 after breakfast).
Two preparatory online meetings with the organizers are expected (dates tbc), 2 residential preparatory days for the facilitators are planned on 25 and 26.10.2025 before arrival of the participants to set up the event space and finalize the planning.
Requested trainer profile
Experienced trainers:
- Have experience in facilitating international training courses and seminars targeted to or at least involving young people, ideally young volunteers;
- Have knowledge of the European Solidarity Corps Programme, with a special focus on volunteering ;
- Be able to work within an international team;
- Be available for the full duration of the event and the prep meetings ;
- Have a very good level of spoken and written English.
Preference will be given to facilitators with proven experience in facilitating similar events prior.
Junior trainer :
- Have an engagement experience with youth, the European Solidarity Corps and/or the topic of volunteering;
- Have knowledge of the European Solidarity Corps Programme, with a special focus on volunteering ;
- Be able to work within an international team;
- Be available for the full duration of the event and the prep meetings ;
- Have a very good level of spoken and written English.
Working conditions
Remuneration
4 days training + 2 days prep on the spot before arrival of participants + 3 days prep (including online preparation team meetings ) + 1 day evaluation & reporting
Total fee : 10 days x 350 €= 3350,00 €
Travel costs
BE-FR National Agency, Bureau International Jeunesse (BIJ), will take care of the booking of the travel for the selected candidates.
Coverage of visa costs
The hosting National Agency will cover the visa costs of the selected candidates if applicable.
Coverage of other costs
Costs of food, lodging and local transportation for the residential preparatory meeting and during the activity will be covered by the hosting National Agency.
Team composition
Facilitators team:
Tasks/duties of the 3 facilitators:
- actively facilitate and attend the preparatory meetings (online and residential);
- prepare the methodology and the design of the activity ;
- actively cooperate with the two other facilitators a as well as the logistic team on the spot ;
- implement the 4 full days of the meeting and design a nice informal welcome for the arrival day (afternoon/evening) ;
- evaluate the activity's main outcomes and deliver a synthetic report including recommendations for future editions and the follow-up after the activity.
Members of the Preparatory Team will support the meeting in the preparation phase :
- 1 staff member from Belgium-FR NA
- 1 staff member from SALTO ESC
- 1 or 2 young people from the Europeers network
- 1 former ESC volunteer based in Belgium-FR (to be confirmed)
At least one member of the preparatory team will be present during the full duration of the activity.
