Description

Project Greenhouse for Inclusion & Participation

An exciting opportunity to develop new projects especially in the new Key Action 2 (strategic partnerships).

  • 5 (arrival) – 9 May (departure) 2014 – 3 full working days – Berlin
  • Working language English
  • 35 participants including team (30 participants + 5 team members)
  • cooperation between: NA Belgium-Flanders, Germany, Hungary, SALTO Inclusion, SALTO Participation

The National Agencies of the YOUTH IN ACTION programme from Germany, Belgium-Flanders and Hungary have the task to implement the EU’s youth programme YOUTH IN ACTION. In this context they are working on the programme’s permanent priorities Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities and Participation of young people. The SALTO-YOUTH Resource Centres SALTO Inclusion and SALTO Participation support the programme, National Agencies and the youth field with the expertise on the respective topics.

Civic participation concerns all young people, but youngsters with fewer opportunities are still underrepresented in civic participation projects. In the current YOUTH IN ACTION programme civic participation projects are mostly realized in the Actions 1.3 (Youth Democracy Projects) and 5.1 (Meetings of young people and those responsible for youth policy (Structured Dialogue)). In the future youth programme YOUTH IN ACTION within the integrated programme  Erasmus + (E+) civic or citizenship projects will most likely take place within the new Key Action 2 (Cooperation for innovation and good practices - Strategic Partnerships). As the possible project formats within this new Key Action are still quite open, it is important to offer beneficiaries a possibility to gain a better understanding of the opportunities that lie within this Key Action. A Project Greenhouse as we foresee it will bring together experienced beneficiaries to develope new project formats and activities in a creative and open atmosphere. The expected outcome should be a collection of projects and strategies that could be realized within the different key actions of E+ (especially the yet undefined Key Action 2). So, the Greenhouse will also contribute to a sharpened understanding of the opportunities within the new youth programme, especially of the strategic partnerships in Key Action 2.

To keep the spirit of important priorities as Inclusion and Participation alive in the new youth programme the Greenhouse shall specifically deal with the question of how to involve young people with fewer opportunities in decision making projects? Thus, Participation in this seminar will be less understood as active involvement in projects in general but perceived in a more political sense as taking an active part in democratic and civic processes.

Therefore the opportunities the programme Erasmus+ offers to identify synergies between the already existing expertise regarding participation and inclusion will be explored. Youth workers and young people with experience – on the one hand with inclusion projects and on the other hand with participation projects –will come together to share their experiences in a first step. Inclusion experts might present good practice examples how to involve young people with fewer opportunities, willing to step forward to civic participation projects with their target group. Participation experts might present good practice examples of civic participation projects, aiming at better reaching young people with fewer opportunities. In a second step these experts will enter an open and creative workshop process to develop ideas for possible common projects and cooperations. (There might also be a third expert group: those experienced in national inclusion and participation projects, willing to go international.)

With this call we are looking for a trainer duo that will develop a concept for the Project Greenhouse, together with the NAs and SALTO Inclusion and Participation undertake the seminar and document the outcomes (especially the developed projects and strategies) of the Greenhouse.
