Activating citizens – municipalities and local authorities making use of the European Solidarity Corps

Activating citizen is a serie of online seminars exploring the various possibilities of the European Solidarity Corps to promote voluntary engagement and active citizenship in local communities. The seminars are a cooperation between SALTO ESC and Europe goes local

The European Solidarity Corps Programme is the programme of the European Union for promoting solidarity as a value. It offers young people the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to solidarity in society; strengthening their local communities in return.

Aims & objectives

The seminar format provides space for and support for representatives of municipalities how to make use of the European Solidarity Corps Programme.

It provides best practices of municipalities who already make use of the Solidarity Corps as a tool for social cohesion and solidarity. We explore through showcasing how local volunteering (aka solidarity projects) and international volunteering activities within the European Solidarity Corps can foster social innovation and can lead to a sustainable surplus value in communities.
