Training Course "EastWestEVS"

Annual Training Course "EastWestEVS" for youth workers and organisations interested in European Voluntary Service (EVS) projects within Youth in Action programme. This year special focus was given to cooperation between non-EU Programme countries and Eastern Europe and Caucasus region. Training organised together with Turkish National Agency of Youth in Action Programme and SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus.

Aim

TC "EastWestEVS" aims at developing competences of EVS projects coordinators and mentors in cooperation between Programme Countries and EECA region with special focus on involvement of non-EU Programme Countries (Turkey, Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland, and soon Switzerland and Croatia) with special focus on group EVS activities and sustainable partnership development.

Date and Venue

TC "EastWestEVS" took place from 19-25 October (Tuesday 19th was arrival day and Monday 25th is departure day), 2010 in Adrasan - Antalya, Turkey.

  • Youth in Action Programme understanding with special focus on cooperation with EECA countries within Action 2 projects (EVS)
  • Specificities and technical requirements of cooperation between non-EU Programme and EECA countries
  • How to find partners and create quality, sustainable partnerships
  • How to organize good project within European Voluntary Service, partnership - rights and obligations of partners, mentoring
  • Presentation of participants and organisations - Organisations Fair
  • Future Actions Planning


Additional topics

  • quality of partnerships in EVS projects due to lack of accreditation of EVS organisations in EECA region,
  • understanding of non-formal learning aspects in EVS projects with EECA,
  • EVS training cycle in EECA region as partners are responsible for it,
  • visa issues and registration of volunteer's formal stay abroad,
  • money transfers between Programme and EECA countries etc.

Participants

TC "EastWestEVS" will bring together 30 voluntary and professional youth workers, youth leaders and project coordinators working directly with youth organisations and youngsters, who are interested in setting up new EVS projects:

  • 10 participants from EU Programme Countries (27 EU member states)
  • 10 participants from non-EU Programme Countries (Turkey, Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland, and soon Switzerland, Croatia and Macedonia).
  • 10 participants from EECA countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine)

Participants profile:

  • active youth worker;
  • ready to develop new projects within European Voluntary Service
  • active participation and contribution at preparation stage and during full duration of the TC;
  • ability to communicate in English;

Trainers team was composed of 3 trainers, experienced in EVS - action 2 of Youth in Action Programme and cooperation with EECA region:

Additionally, one officer from Turkish NA and one from SALTO EECA joined the team.


Organisers

This Training Course was co-organised by Turkish National Agency of the Youth in Action Programme and SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus Resource Centre with support of other National Agencies of YiA.

Financial Conditions

  • The board and lodging during the training course for all participants will be provided by organisers,
  • Flight travel costs of participants from Eastern Europe and Caucasus will be covered fully by organisers on the basis of original tickets and invoices (EECA participants need to cover their insurance as well as Turkish visa-sticker costs),
  • Travel costs of participants from Programme Countries will be paid by relevant National Agency on its own principles.

Selection Procedure

The selection was carried out by the organisers and relevant National Agencies of the Youth in Action Programme, based on the criteria specified in the "participants profile" section. The selected participants would be informed directly by August 15th 2010.
